Chicago
I just read the poem Chicago by Carl Sandburg, and I must say I really liked it. I enjoyed the description that seemed so fitting for many large cities. I love that after agreeing to all it's downfalls, he showed why Chicago is a great city, and referred to it as his, showing his pride. I don’t know that I have ever witnessed a city as proud as Chicago. I attended a Chicago Bears game last fall, which was awesome in itself, but what really amazed me was how proud and true the fans were. They were Chicago, loud and proud, through and through.

I really enjoyed reading "Chicago" as well. What's wonderful is that the city can recognize its downfalls, but also its achievements. It brings to mind that Super Bowl commercial featuring Emenim. It was so powerful and moving. One could almost compare the poem and the commercial directly.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this poem. It gave me a sense of accomplishment. Chicago is a strong city with many opportunities. If you have never visited Chicago, you would know the strenghth from the poem.
ReplyDeleteI loved the poem "Chicago". I liked that it was able to show the strength of Chicago and it is nitty gritty. It was my favorite poem out of all of those I read.
