Not my favorite thing...
So I am just going to come right out and say it, no sugar coating; I hate poetry! With a passion. For some reason or another it just does not process well in my brain. Almost every poem I read I am left wondering what the heck the author was even talking about. When I go to read a summary or interpretation of most poems I often wonder how they got such a story out of the poem that was read. I really wish that I had a better understanding of poetry so that maybe I could appreciate it the way others seem to, but in all my attempts I have failed, I just cannot make myself like it…

Christina i am the same way I hate poetry too. I think it has to do with me not fully understanding really. I often wonder why they just do not come out and say what they mean lol. This semester I was required to take a creative writing class that taught me a lot about poetry, and how it is wrote, I am still confused. Poetry is not meant for everyone but when it is understood I think it is a beautiful thing. Walt Whitmen is my favorite because I read his poetry like a story, although I probably would not have understood it without knowing about his past. We made it through it though and I am happy with that! It has been great reading your blogs and discussions.
